Breakdowns
Breakdowns allow you segment your data and drill-down on key cohorts
Overview
Breakdowns let you segment your data and drill down into key cohorts across reports and dashboards. Use a Breakdown to group records by a specific field (for example, territory, plan, industry) and optionally map raw values into clean, business-friendly buckets.
Creating a breakdown: Definition > Breakdowns

Prerequisites
The integration(s) and objects you want to reference are connected and syncing (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.).
You know the exact Integration > Object > Field you want to use (for example,
Salesforce > Account > Territory).
Steps
Create a Breakdown: Go to Definition > Breakdowns and click +New Breakdown.
Name the Breakdown
Enter a clear, descriptive name (e.g.,
Territory).Select the data source Choose the Source in the format Integration > Object > Field (for example,
Salesforce > Account > Territory). To combine data from multiple fields or systems, click + Add new data source and select additional Integration > Object > Field entries.
Review Funnel Stage Activation HockeyStack highlights which funnel stages the Breakdown can apply to based on the selected source(s). This determines where your Breakdown is available in funnels and reports.
Configure value handling under Mappings: Decide how final values should display in reports:
Group Values (recommended for tidy reporting)
Click Group Values under Mappings.
Click + Add group and enter a group name (this name shows in reports).
Select objects to check for values (if multiple sources are used).
Define the logic/conditions for which raw values belong to this group (e.g.,
Territory contains West, Pacific NW).Repeat for each group you need.
(Optional) Toggle Group unmapped values to 'other' to bucket any remaining values into Other.
Keep Original Values
If you prefer the raw values from the source without grouping, select Keep Original Values instead of Group Values.
Save the Breakdown Click Save.
After saving, allow 5–10 minutes for the Breakdown to finish initializing and become available across applicable reports.
Troubleshooting
Multiple objects or sources: If your Breakdown uses multiple objects, allow 24–48 hours for relation mappings to complete before expecting full coverage across reports.
No values appearing: Verify the Integration > Object > Field is synced and populated. Check permissions and data freshness in the integration settings.
Unexpected values in “Other”: Review your Group Values logic for typos, case sensitivity, or missing variants (e.g.,
US-WestvsUS West).Mis-mapped values: Grouping rules run top-to-bottom; the first match wins. There’s no overlap, but broad rules above specific ones can mis-map values. Move specific groups higher or add exclusions, then retest.
Changing a source field: If you switch the underlying field, revisit Mappings to confirm groups still match the new value set.
Performance: Very large value sets or many groups may increase processing time. Consider grouping into higher-level buckets where possible.
Examples
Single source:
Salesforce > Account > Territorygrouped intoNorth America,EMEA,APAC,Other.Multi-source:
HubSpot > Company > Industry+Salesforce > Account > Industryunified into a singleIndustryBreakdown with consolidated buckets.
